Rich
and Veronica Veillette are not strangers to us, we did a feature
article of their Black 2015 Modified Coupe in the September 2018 issue
of Corvette Web Magazine. Their last “Dream Car” can be seen at
http://www.corvetteweb.com/dream.html . The car was indeed very
special and Rich has the awards to prove it. Last year Rich
brought the car into the dealer for an oil change and while waiting, he
was roamed the showroom floor and noticed a beautiful 2019 Artic White
with Adrenaline Red interior Grand Sport LT2 Convertible. It was love
at first sight. The only problem he had was convincing his wife that he
needed a new Vette. He was not very convincing and couldn’t even get
her to come look at it. Fast
forward a month and we were at an all Corvette Show in Jackson, MS and
one of the Dealer entrants displayed a car exactly like the one Rich
wanted. When Rich's wife saw it the hard sell was over.
After some light decision making they decided that they just had
to have it. Long story short, Dealership had sold the car but had
another come in exactly like it. They then said goodbye to their black
“Dream Car” and said hello to the new Artic White car known as
“Jarhead”.
Once
they got the car, they decided they were going to modify it to honor
America's Veterans. Rich, a Marine Vietnam Veteran and his
wife wanted the cars theme to reflect our
county’s appreciation to all that have so bravely served and
sacrificed so the rest of us can enjoy our freedoms.
They
started by having the custom painted military hood liner from the 2015
transferred to the Grand Sport as part of the deal. The next step was
getting the car ceramic coated to keep that new car shine. They then
worked with a company that specializes in high quality custom engine
bays for Corvettes and worked together to come with a design that fit
their vision.
Once
that was completed they added vinyl wraps to the fender, hood, inside
trunk lid. The inside of the trunk lid had a mural honoring all
veterans. Each section contains one of the five service branches along
with a group picture of Veteran silhouettes against the background of
the flag.
Other modifications include an upgraded wicker bill
spoiler , fender guards and clear Xpel bra to protect from road rash.
LED Lights were also added in the under carriage and gills. The lights
are controlled by a phone app that can select any color in the spectrum
and can change randomly and even keep beat to music. This is the
Veillette’s second C7 and 5th Corvette. I guess you can say they are
still living the dream and enjoying every minute. return to index page
