William Robert (16), Jackson Harris (14), Samuel Theodore (12),
and Eleanor Frances (9).
Carl was born on July 18, 1949, in
Philadelphia, PA, to the late Carl Sr. and Grayce Haeussler. He
was preceded in death by his sister Ellen Hoffa.
Carl graduated from William Penn Charter School in 1967. He
attended the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, earning
a degree in business in 1972.
After college, Carl was accepted into the management training
program at Sears, Roebuck and Company. His first assignment
was in Allentown, PA, followed by a transfer to the Sears store in
Winchester, VA. It was in Winchester that he met and married
Debra Ann Koontz, the love of his life, in 1976. Later that year, an
opening became available in his family's tool and die
manufacturing company,
Veit and Young, where Carl became the
CFO. He and Debbie settled in Bucks County, PA, where they
raised their family for 30 years. During that time, Carl served on
the Central Bucks School Board, was active in county politics and
was also appointed to the board of the Bank of Old York Road,
where he served for several years. He took on numerous
entrepreneurial and real estate ventures, enjoyed networking and
building meaningful connections throughout his career.
Driven by a lifelong passion for muscle cars, especially Corvettes,
Carl joined the Corvette Club of Delaware Valley becoming alifetime member.
He was also an honored member of the Marco Island Corvette and Muscle
Car
Club.He owned many Corvettes throughout his lifeand often said, “Gasoline is in my blood.”
Carl and Dbbie retired to Marco Island, Florida, where they built
a home and lived for 17 years. Last year, they moved into a condo
in Naples as Carl realized his days were numbered and that the
bone marrow cancer would not be cured.
An important part of his
life was his love of family, his loyalty to friends, and his
commitment to treating all people with dignity and respect. Above
all, Carl's love of Jesus Christ, his Savior, was paramount. His
faith was an inspiration to all who met him. He desired for each
person to have the opportunity to live an abundant life and to
know Christ as their Savior. Carl wasn’t shy about sharing the
Good News.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, his faith in
God, and his dedication to his family and community. He touched
the lives of many and will be deeply missed by those fortunate
enough to know him.
