The Corvette Girls ZR1 Beast

Deb Lowe has had a love affair with Corvettes for as long as she can remember.  Her continuing passion for the hobby has earned her the name"Corvette Girl". Deb's Corvette odyssey started with a 1981 C3. The desire for higher levels of performance and technology prompted her to trade up to an 04 C5 coupe. Deb needed more so she traded the C5 for a 2010 torch red C6 Grand Sport.

The crowning glory of Debs Corvette journey is her latest acquisition, a torch red 2010 ZR1. She still uses the GS as a daily driver. Talk about having your cake and eating it too. She tells us that the GS is no slouch in the performance departement but the ZR1 makes the GS seem slow in comparison.

Deb told us that the ZR1 is better known in Corvette circles as the BAMF LS9 Beast. Me and most of the guy's at the magazine are really showing our age as we didn't know what the acronym stood for. We finally figured out it stood for "Bad Ass Mother F@#$%&". We had a good laugh over that one.

When Deb first acquired the ZR1 she took a real leap of faith as she had never driven a car with a manual tranny. I guess she figured that if you have to learn something its better to skip the small stuff and go directly to the top. Deb had a running bet with her late boyfriend that she would never be able to own a "Blue Devil" Vette because she could not drive it. Deb decided she would take up the challenge and get the ZR1 despite being petrified of the manual tranny.

Eventually Deb managed to master the art of crunching through a six speed. What makes this amazing is that she learned after having double hip replacement surgery and nerve damage.

The ZR 1 is stock except for a Mild to Wild exhaust controller and a few cosmetics. The car is a natural attention getter and most and people are surprised when they find out that the driver behind the wheel is a female.
When Deb is not enjoying a ride in one of her Vettes she is busy coordinating car events and meeting car enthusiasts. She is active in many automotive groups and forums including Corvette Forum where she is an Events Coordinator.

Deb and the "beast" can be found stalking the dunes, lakes and enjoying sunsets around the Grand Rapids area. Deb also enjoys infiltrating GM's Milford proving grounds track. Deb tells us that although she loves her double trouble GS and ZR1 she is really looking forward to getting a new C7 Sting Ray.
